As a famous rock song that I love states, “Life’s a journey not a destination. “ I happen to agree completely. Life is for us to enjoy as we travel along. How do you go about enjoying life? I would venture to say that everyone has his or her own idea of how to do that.

Personally, I feel that friends and family are what make life enjoyable. Friends are what I would like to talk about today.

Friendships are something that need to be tended and cultivated over the course of time. Now, that’s not to say that you can’t make friends quickly, but sometime it takes time to know who is important and who isn’t.

For me trust is an issue, having been burned more than once you learn to keep your feeling close. It seems that it was always so easy for people to believe the worst in me. In reality the gossip was way worse than the truth.

When it comes to friends it may be hard to find someone to accept you for who you are. But isn’t that what friendship is about, acceptance without judgement?

It’s hard to make good friends as an adult. Many times you think “oh they have friends, they don’t need or want me.” You notice they have their own group of friends and you feel like you would be intruding.

If you have one friend in your life that gets you then you are blessed. I don’t care if they live across the country. You can talk on the phone, skype, or facetime. Make the effort to stay in touch. These people are rare and should be treated as such.

Also understand that many people will not get you, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be friends. when you are friends with those people you open yourself up to new experiences and growing as a person.

I urge you to be accepting of others and not judgemental. Not everyone “gets” you but that doesn’t exclude them from being a friend.
